This study examines the feasibility and implementation strategies of distributed drone supply systems as an alternative to centralized logistics support systems vulnerable in modern and future battlefield environments. In the geopolitical context of the Korean Peninsula and under North Korean threats, the survivability and adaptability of logistics support systems are essential for Republic of Korea Armed Forces operations. This study identifies key elements of distributed drone supply systems: autonomous flight and swarm operation technologies, secure communication systems, AI-based logistics planning and optimization technologies, and mobile power infrastructure. It also analyzes major challenges including security of distributed nodes, maintenance issues, command and control model establishment, and ensuring interoperability. Based on domestic and international case analyses, a phased implementation roadmap comprising short-term (experimentation and doctrine development), mid-term (initial capability deployment), and long-term (advanced capability acquisition) phases is presented. This study proposes that the ROK Armed Forces formally adopt distributed and asymmetric logistics principles in conjunction with Defense Innovation 4.0, developing a new logistics support paradigm utilizing drone technology.
