This study compares and analyzes military women personnel policies in the Five Eyes Alliance countries (United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand) and South Korea. It examines the proportion of women in each country's military, key policies, achievements, and ongoing challenges, particularly evaluating policy effectiveness in terms of expanding women's roles, improving working conditions, and changing organizational culture. The Five Eyes countries have opened all military positions to women and expanded female participation through active recruitment strategies and support programs. The proportion of women in these militaries has reached 11-17%, with increasing cases of women in high-ranking positions. South Korea has also made significant progress, increasing its female military personnel ratio to 8.8% as of 2021 and expanding their roles. However, challenges remain, including low representation of women in high-ranking positions, limited participation in combat roles, issues of sexual harassment and assault, and inadequate work-family balance support systems. Based on this analysis, the study derives implications for South Korea's military women personnel policies and suggests future policy directions. It emphasizes the need for fundamental changes in organizational culture, continuous education and training, and strong leadership commitment, beyond mere institutional changes. The study also highlights the importance of an approach that considers South Korea's sociocultural context, presenting this as a crucial task that can ultimately lead to enhanced military combat effectiveness and organizational innovation.
